Mission Australia’s Cairns South Communities for Children site is formed by three distinctly different localities including the southern corridor (Woree to Mt Peter and Gordonvale), rural lands south of the Mulgrave River to Waugh’s Pocket road, the border with Johnstone Shire and the Aboriginal Shire of Yarrabah.
The activities within the site include cooking groups, physical activities, mobile supported playgroups, culturally appropriate camping groups, parenting skills, recording stories, child protection activities, introduction to learning and literacy with parent interaction and community development activities that promote child friendly communities. Inala to Goodna -Queensland
The Inala to Goodna Communities for Children Initiative is facilitating the implementation of early intervention and prevention programs which nurture and support children 0-5 years, their families and neighbourhoods in the suburbs of Inala, Durack, Richlands, Carole Park, Wacol, Gailes and Goodna.
The Inala to Goodna Initiative focuses on working with community, government and business sectors to develop partnerships and build on community strengths, cultural diversity and community assets. The Initiative establishes activities that create child friendly and child safe communities which foster and enhance learning, skills building, literacy, social skills, health and well being of children, families and services. Blacktown/Mt Druitt -New South Wales
C4C Blacktown / Mount Druitt provides services for families and children aged 0-5 years old. Services are delivered in Mount Druitt, Whalan, Dharruk, Blackett, Hebersham, Emerton and Minchinbury. Our programs include supported playgroups, a mobile Book and Toy library, parenting and living skills programs, kids’ gym and a project focused on increasing the child-friendliness of the community.
We are also facilitating an Early Years Planning Group which aims to give children in the 2770 post code area a better start to life through better coordination and delivery of services. For more information please contact us.

The Miller and surrounds Communities for Children initiative is facilitating the implementation of early intervention and prevention programs which nurture and support children 0-5 years, their families and neighbourhoods in the suburbs of Miller Cartwright, Sadleir and Green Valley.
The Miller and surrounds initiative works together with community and government sectors, developing partnerships and building on community strengths, cultural diversity and community assets to establish activities that create child friendly and child safe communities. Taree -New South Wales
In Taree, our main objectives are to enhance the communities capability to support young children; improve the health, early learning and development and well being of young children 0-5 years; support parents, carers and families; and build on existing service infrastructure.
We do this by providing activities and resources for families and children under 5 years, including: antenatal classes, workshops and reunions; nutrition and hearing projects; library “Let’s Read” and “Storytime” resources; Engaging Dads Program and resource bags; play spaces project including sensory room and gardens. Greater Dandenong -Victoria
The Greater Dandenong Communities for Children Initiative facilitates the implementation of early intervention and prevention programs which nurture and support children, their families and neighbourhoods. This initiative focuses on the suburbs of Dandenong, Dandenong North, Dandenong South and Bangholme. The current population of this area is 47,600 residents including 2,660 children aged 0-4 years, and people from over 150 different nations, collectively speaking over 40 different languages. South East Tasmania
Mission Australia is the community partner for Communities for Children in four municipalities in South East Tasmania – Central Highlands, Southern Midlands, Brighton and Derwent Valley. Activities include mobile play time, home visits, hub activities to support parents, a pre-literacy reading program and community fun days. One of the many aims of the program is to facilitate better connections and improved relationships between local service providers and parents as well as to improve school readiness in 0 -5 year olds. Pathways Projects is an early intervention and prevention program that works with 0-5 year olds and their families across the Mirrabooka area in Perth. The project broadly aims to improve the quality of care for children and support healthy childhood development through the provision of school based playgroups, family support, community development activities and the implementation of the P2Leap manual.
